Apple has officially dropped support for all Intel-based Macs starting with macOS Golden Gate (macOS 27). Only Macs powered by Apple Silicon (M-series chips) are supported.
Here is the complete list of supported devices:
Official Supported Macs for macOS Golden Gate (macOS 27)
MacBook Series
- MacBook Air (M1 2020 and all newer models)
- MacBook Pro 13-inch, 14-inch & 16-inch (M1 2020 and newer)
- New 2026 MacBook models with A18 Pro or M5 series
Desktop Macs
- iMac (M1 2021 and later)
- Mac mini (M1 2020 and later)
- Mac Studio (2022 and later)
- Mac Pro (Apple Silicon 2023 and later)



Macs That Will NOT Get macOS Golden Gate
- All Intel-based Macs (2019 and older)
- This marks the complete end of Intel Mac support for major macOS releases.


Apple Intelligence & Siri AI Requirements
- Basic features: Available on M1 and newer
- Advanced Siri AI & Apple Intelligence: Requires M3 or newer + 12GB+ RAM
How to Check Compatibility on Your Mac
- Click the Apple Menu () in the top left
- Select About This Mac
- Check the Chip name



Recommendation: Always create a full backup using Time Machine before installing any beta software.
Final Thought
macOS Golden Gate brings major improvements in Siri AI, Liquid Glass design, and performance but only for users with modern Apple Silicon Macs.
